Labor united for peace:

No War and Occupation of

Venezuela

The Trump administration has recklessly started bombing Venezuela after weeks of U.S. military escalation in the region. As a part of this operation dubbed “Midnight Hammer”, the Trump administration lawlessly kidnapped the head of state of a sovereign country.

Trump and members of his cabinet revealed their true intentions after the bombing, stating “We are going to run the country” and “We’re going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere in the world, go in”.

The U.S. previously launched a full-scale war against Iraq in 2003 based on the fabricated claim of “weapons of mass destruction”, a lie that cost the lives of millions of Iraqis and Americans while generating enormous profits for oil and defense corporations paid for by American taxpayer dollars, demonstrating the deadly cost of war.

At a time when millions of people in the U.S. are currently losing their healthcare and essential services due to cuts by Congress and Trump, billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars have been poured into these military operations instead of being invested in much-needed jobs, housing, education, and healthcare.

This war benefits no one but the billionaire class, yet it will be workers who bear the burden of the fallout. Recent polls confirm this sentiment: 70% of Americans oppose U.S. military action in Venezuela. We, the under-signed unions have joined Labor United for Peace to oppose this illegal and unjust war and occupation of Venezuela.

OUR STATEMENT & DEMANDS

  1. We Demand peace and unequivocally opposes any U.S. war and occupation of Venezuela

  2. We Demand that elected officials oppose war and occupation against Venezuela and to support peace

  3. We Will participate in anti-war rallies, demonstrations, and mass actions that oppose U.S. intervention in Venezuela and call for peace and diplomacy
